Our Life-Changing Projects

Corazon de Niños (Children's Heart)

From 30,000 births in Cd. Juarez, Mexico it is estimated that between .5% and 1% of all children are born with congenital heart defects. This means that at least 150 kids are born with a serious condition that will require some sort of operation or corrective procedure. Since Ciudad Juarez does not have medical personnel to treat congenital heart defects, most patients are sent to either to Mexico City, Monterrey or Chihuahua. Thanks to our efforts and our partnerships, since 2012, evaluation procedures have been conducted to more than 160 kids and 18 have been treated for arrhythmia as well as a few local surgeries. Additionally, travel expenses have been covered for more than 20 children that received medical attention in Mexico City and/or Chihuahua. Last year, we covered the expenses of 9 surgeries that were performed at the Children’s Hospital in Chihuahua.

Each life-changing surgery costs us $3,000.

Brachial Plexus Project

Worldwide 1 to 3 newborns in 1,000 suffer Brachial Plexus injuries.  Through this initiative, the Camino Real Rotary Club is looking for ways to support brachial plexus procedures for underprivileged children in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. The long-term objective is that Doctors and rehabilitation specialists obtain the appropriate training to conduct surgeries and therapy.

Community Center "Soles de Anapra" - Anapra's Suns

Our Club has been supporting this community center for a number of years in a variety of ways.

The center is located in a forgotten part of Juarez city were a lot of gangs operate.

Our mission for this center is to provide a safe environment for children living in the area as well as to prevent them to get into these gangs.

We recently acquired a building and are remodeling it for the center’s needs. It receives approximately 100 children a day, we feed and teach them different classes, provide clothing, shoes and Christmas’ dinners and gifts.
